The Salvation Army in Des Moines, Iowa -- Youth Basketball

A youth basketball league is offered each year at The Salvation Army's Citadel Corps Community Center at 1216 E. 25th Court in Des Moines. Co-ed teams are set up in three leagues -- 1st & 2nd grade, 3rd & 4th grade and 5th & 6th grade. Sportsmanship is strongly emphasized in all three leagues and all team members get to play, regardless of ability.

FALL SEASON
Mid-October through mid-December
1st & 2nd Grade (coed)
Weeknight practices with weeknight & Sat. games

WINTER SEASON
January through March
3rd & 4th Grade (coed)
5th & 6th Grade (coed)
Weeknight practices with Saturday games.

Tournaments at the end of each season!

DETAILS...
    Registration fee: $60 per player
    Proof of school grade level is required for each child
    Each player receives a tee-shirt/jersey and a post-season photo yearbook
    Each team is required to find a team sponsor; sponsor fee: $250
    Every player receives a trophy or medal
    Tournaments are played at the end of the season
    A Sportsmanship Award is presented to one player on each team
    Parents are required to attend a sportsmanship orientation
    This is a developmental and recreational league
