Breakfast Feeding
of the Homeless
Each Tuesday and Friday morning The Salvation Army's emergency disaster services mobile canteen follows a route of the inner city of Des Moines offering a hot breakfast to the homeless and near homeless. Nearly 1,000 men, women and children are fed each morning. The hot breakfast includes a hot quiche-like egg casserole, cold cereal, pastries, fruit, milk, juice and coffee.

The egg casseroles are prepared, baked and frozen by volunteer individuals and groups. A recipe and details can be downloaded below.

To volunteer to donate prepared and frozen egg casseroles or to volunteer to help serve the breakfasts to the homeless, call 515-282-3599 or send an e-mail to our volunteer coordinator by clicking here.
