Day Camp
Day camp is offered for children ages 5-12 on days when Des Moines schools are not in session, including summer vacation and the Christmas and Spring breaks. Children are provided a safe, nurturing environment in which they can expand their abilities and skills. An enhanced reading program helps children develop and maintain good reading skills. Activites include crafts, music, snacks, library visits, field trips and swimming.

International track star Lolo Jones paid a visit to Summer Day Camp at The Salvation Army's Citadel Corps on June 28. She recounted for an NBC film crew her experiences as a child she and her homeless family lived Citadel Corps for a period of time. While at the Corps, Lolo played a game of dodge ball with the day camp children and spent time encouraging the children to reach for their goals.
